Supporters can watch the live stream of the awards show on November 14
San Diego, Calif. (October 31, 2019) – On November 14, a local organization, Montgomery County Animal services, will be honored along with six other organizations at the Petco Foundation’s Lifesaving Awards in San Diego, Calif. Montgomery County Animal Services, a municipal shelter that saves 93% of the 15,000 animals they care for each year, will be presented with the 2019 Lifesaving Impact Award.
This award celebrates an exceptional organization, whose inspirational leadership transformed their community making a significant lifesaving impact. The local community can watch Montgomery County Animal Services accept their accolade during this year’s Lifesaving Awards while it streams live on the Petco Foundation Facebook channel with the Red Carpet kicking off at 7:00 CT and the Awards Show beginning at 7:30 CT.
Montgomery County Animal Services represent an area of more than 1,000 largely unincorporated square miles. Their nine Animal Control Officers are responsible for responding to the 13,000 calls for assistance received annually. Their shelter staff of 40 work diligently to place these animals in new homes in addition to sheltering and providing veterinary care to all animals brought into the shelter. With their limited staff and one of the smallest cost per animal budgets, this organization not only overcomes challenges every day, but they help other organizations in their lifesaving efforts.
At the event, 500 pet‐loving guests will come together to honor extraordinary animal welfare heroes, like those at Montgomery County Animal Services. The awards will bring together some of the pet industry’s top brands to celebrate and recognize seven organizations and individuals from across the country for their dedication, determination and daily actions to create lifesaving impact for pets in need.
“The Petco Foundation’s Lifesaving Awards is a celebration of love that saves animal lives and represents our gratitude to animal welfare heroes who put their love into action every day,” said Susanne Kogut, president of the Petco Foundation. “We are excited this year to celebrate our 20‐year history of saving lives and recognize and honor exemplary performance of these seven organizations and individuals whose dedication and commitment to solutions and achieving success creates a significant lifesaving impact.”

We encounter many unique challenges in dealing with animals as we cover suburban and rural areas. About the Petco Foundation At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life. Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $260 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 6 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
